The Way We Work
At Katherine Low Settlement we are driven by our vision and mission and led by our values. The approach we take to our work is as important as the work itself. We work ‘with’ people and communities and don’t do things ‘to’ or ‘at’ them – we involved them in the development and delivery of our work and services, being responsive to their needs. We’re in it for the long-haul (90 years and counting) as people and communities take time to change and prosper.

Charity of the Year
Adopt KLS as your Charity of the Year – for a fun packed year.
Employee giving, fundraising and match funding
Employees raise funds for KLS by doing sponsored events e.g. fun runs / marathon etc… Company then contributes match funding e.g. employee raises £1,000 + company matches £1,000 = £2,000 raised for KLS. Download our A-Z of Fundraising Ideas (KLS)
Challenge days which focus on developing team building, motivation and feeling connected to the local community.
Staff giving their skills and expertise
Share your skills and expertise with specific aspects of our charity e.g. strategic planning, HR, corporate governance, branding and communications, building and premises development.
Mentoring / Coaching
Support and mentor a KLS staff member and/or a user (young person, older person) to aid their development.
Develop a joint project around aspects of local redevelopment e.g. Nine Elms – young people looking to the future and what development will mean to them using creative arts; e.g. Rams Brewery – older people reminiscing project whilst considering coming changes to the area.
Second a member of your staff to KLS and vice versa to learn new skills and experiences that they can then take back to strengthen the business.
Joint training for our respective staff e.g. Health & Safety training.
Leadership and motivational training, talks & support – lessons learnt from the charity sector that are applicable to the business sector.
Advertise / promote KLS to business sector and vice versa – raising awareness, as well as brand.
