WE URGENTLY NEED YOUR HELP.

WE’RE RAISING £12,000 TO RUN THE KATHERINE LOW SETTLEMENT ‘LOVE TO LEARN’ PROGRAMME FOR REFUGEE CHILDREN THIS SUMMER.

DONATE NOW UNTIL 30TH JUNE!

Did you know that more than 37% of children in Battersea now live below the poverty line?

Throughout the Covid-19 pandemic, many families have been confined to their homes with schools closed. Parents may be on zero-hour contracts, or have lost their jobs. Families are living in food poverty, confined spaces and basic conditions.

Life can be especially tough for refugee families, adapting to a new country, learning a new language as well as new customs and cultures. They may lack smartphones, computers and access to online learning.

At the Katherine Low Settlement, we run an annual Love to Learn Summer Programme that provides these families with an exciting range of inspiring discovery trips and activities*:

  • £100 will give a family a day out to remember. We’ll buy train tickets, provide maps and information and some spending money for ice creams!
  • £50 will pay for a child to attend a workshop on Digital Safety and Well-being and Friendships.
  • £25 will provide art and activity packs and help keep little ones busy.

So please help us reach our target of £12,000 to run our Summer Programme through The Champions for Children Summer Give! It’s your chance to help save summer for these children, making it a time to remember for all the right reasons.

*All activities will be run with social distancing as a top priority.

Rizek took part in our summer programme last year. Here’s how he found it!

“When we arrived, we had to put up our tents. I’d never slept in a tent before. It was a bit weird but really exciting. I couldn’t really sleep to start with. Straight after we went swimming in the lake. We had to wear a wetsuit and look for fish. We then made a fire in the forest and cooked our dinner on it, with a few marshmallows. One night we listened for bats and then we had hot chocolate. I want to go to the mountains next time. I can’t wait. I’m so excited about going again.”
