Who we are

LOVE TO LEARN is a project established by Katherine Low Settlement to support local young people and families from refugee backgrounds to access educational advice, advocacy and opportunities. Katherine Low Settlement (registered charity: 3814833) is a busy community centre running programmes and providing space to local people and organisations.

When LOVE TO LEARN started as a pilot project in 2004, we worked with schools in Battersea and provided a homework club for local refuge children. Since then, we have expanded and now we are able to offer a wide range of services and support. In 2012, as a response to consultation with service users and staff, we changed our name from Refugee Home School Support Project to LOVE TO LEARN.

We now employ eight part-time members of staff and we are governed by Katherine Low Settlement’s board of trustees. We work closely with other refugee and community groups in the borough, as well as schools and statutory agencies.

We are currently funded by Reaching Communities (BIG Lottery); Walter St John Educational Charity; Trust for London and a number of smaller funders and private donations. All our funding is temporary and we would be very grateful for any contribution no matter how small, please do contact us. We are Gift Aid registered.
