A very BIG thank you to everyone who so generously supported our Summer Give: Champions for Children appeal – we truly appreciate your support and love. Thank you.
The Big Give and Childhood Trust have extended the donation deadline by one week to next Tuesday 22nd June. So there is still time to support our Summer programme (however, your donation won’t be matched, but still it would be super helpful!). DONATE here. Thank you.
This summer we’re offering 4x2x5: that’s 4 weeks of fun activities, twice a day for 5 days a week. That’s a total of 40 activities for 130-150 young people. We couldn’t have done this without you. We’re offering lots of sports and physical activity after a year of mainly staying indoors – we’re taking small groups to Trinity Fields (a nearby playing field), as well as local parks and into town; cooking projects; music workshops; family day trips to remember; wellbeing workshops; and more. It’s going to be so much fun for our young people.
Last year we asked 67 young people, who took part in our summer wellbeing workshops, how they felt:
- 98% said they had developed their social skills during the summer activities
- 85% said their independence had increased
- 84% said they felt more resilient
- 100% said the summer activities made them feel positive and happy
We’ll be asking them again what they think about this summer. We’ll let you know what they tell us, in a short report, that we’ll publish in September.
In the meantime, over the summer, we’ll be making regular updates on our social media channels, and we’ll be posting weekly updates here on our blog about what we’re up. Stay tuned.
Thank you again.
