We’re delighted to have been selected as one of The Childhood Trust’s UK-wide charities taking part in this summer’s Big Give from 14 – 21 June.
Our long-standing summer programme for local refugee children can only go ahead thanks to generous donations from our supporters. Like 36% of charities surveyed in the London Charity Survey, we are reliant on extra support to meet current levels of demand.
Can you help the children of Battersea Play On for another summer?
For the whole of August, children and young people aged 4 – 21 will enjoy jam-packed days trying out a range of fun activities, including sports, cooking, craft and, for the first time, the chance to express themselves in guided drama sessions. Lunch is included everyday, free of charge – this is a good way to help families who are already concerned and cutting back on food in response to the rising cost of living.
Where possible, they will be outside in the summer sunshine, in local parks and further afield: for many, KLS day trips are the first time they might see the sea or ride a rollercoaster.
Thanks to the generosity of people like you, last year’s programme was a huge success, with over 200 children getting outside and getting involved. Daniel, aged 8, came on a trip to the beach – his first visit to to the sea! He told us:
“I loved taking the coach and going swimming in the sea, it was very cold, but so much fun and I wish I could go there every day”.
