KLS turns 97 today – Happy Birthday!

Happy birthday!

Today is the official birthday of Katherine Low Settlement.

On this day 97 years ago we were formally opened by the Queen Mother (then HRH Duchess of York). The crowds look amazing. Please have a look at the photo’s, as well as the write up of the formalities. It makes for fascinated reading (you might need to increase your screen size to read it properly though). Towards the end it says, “We hope that the new Settlement at Orville-road will be given a fair chance [of survival].” Well here we are 97 years later and still going from strength to strength, giving ourselves that ‘fair chance’.

Here’s to another 97 years.
