Spring Steps for KLS – a local perspective

David Britten (pictured above) is local resident and St Mary’s parishioner. He shared this recently about his experience of Spring Steps last year and the team he’s putting together this year. Register for Spring Steps here or join David’s team (instructions below).

“Last year we walked 1,397,249 steps and raised £2,525.25, helping KLS walk over 5 million steps and raise over £12,000. Here is a video of last year’s campaign:

This year we want to support KLS again, a local charity who does fantastic work in our community. If you don’t know what KLS does…

Katherine Low Settlement has been serving Battersea and the wider Wandsworth community since 1924. They are dedicated to building stronger communities and enable people to challenge and find ways out of poverty and isolation. KLS run a range of their own community projects to support thousands of children, young people and their families, women, older people and refugee communities. Visit their website to find out more www.klsettlement.org.uk

So for this year’s Spring Steps campaign 2022 we are going to walk 1,500,000 steps and raise £2,750. Please sign up to be part of the St Mary’s team here by following the steps below:

1. go to the KLS registration page
2. register your name
3. join the team called Battersea Angel
4. add in your strava account (please wait until 11th March to do this)
5. add your name to the google sheet, so we can keep a running total of our steps and I
can update KLS
6. invite your friends to be part of the team- you can walk anywhere in the world with us!
7. share your excitement on Twitter and Facebook, copying in on twitter: @AngelsBattersea or @klssettlement

We launch at noon on 11th March and the final count up of steps will be at noon on 18th March 2022.

On 18th March join us at 12 noon in Fred Wells Gardens for a post-walk stretching session with Hannah, one of our exercise tutors. We’ll have refreshments, announce our total step count and have prizes for the most active teams and individuals.

Please be part of our team, and just to remind you Battersea Angels is based on the founding principles of Battersea Coronavirus Angels, which is a group of  local people coming together to help others, people of faith or no faith, just wanting to help the local people of St Mary’s Battersea.

Thank you for your support, please drop me an email or give me a ring if you want to discuss, and also let me know if you want me to take you off this email list.

Kind regards
David Britten
