Battersea Coronavirus Angels have just shared an update. As we’re a partner in this group we thought we would share it here.
12 months ago, Canon Simon Butler had the idea to help the people of Battersea at the outbreak of the Covid 19 pandemic. He sought the support and backing of Father David O’Malley from Sacred Heart and Aaron Barbour from Katherine Low Settlement, and out of that CoronaVirus Angels Battersea was born. I think we all know how this evolved, over 450 volunteers came forward (of which you are one!), and we have helped 100’s of people, and completed 1000’s of missions. We have also created a befriending network and built partnerships with other organisations. But we could not have done this without the support, knowledge and skill of KLS who were able to guide us.
So the coordinators of CoronaVirus Angels decided they wanted to give something back to KLS, so we have got behind their Spring Steps challenge to walk, run, jog (or even dance as one of our coordinators will be doing) 1 million steps between the 12th March – 19th March. We are a group of 10 coordinators, and we take it in turns to man the phones, and on the day we man the phone we will walk our 10,000 steps. Follow us on our twitter and facebook account to keep updated as to our progress.
We are doing this for 2 reasons, the 1st to raise money for KLS and the 2nd is to encourage people to get out and exercise. Although we cannot walk our 10,000 steps as a group, we can do it when it fits in to our day. Remember you do not need to do it in 1 go, you can do it in 3 x 3333 steps, 2 x 5000 etc.
So you can help? You can join our team, and record your steps on a daily basis here and be part of our team. Download one of the steps app and then add your name onto our sheet and record the amount you walk. Walk for 1 day or 7 days, it is your choice! It is free to join the team.
We would love to achieve 150,000 steps over the week, and some of us are hoping we hit 250,000. KLS overall target is 1 million steps, so we hope that the CV ANGELS can contribute a large chunk of that.
Secondly, if you would like to donate please do so here. All funds go to KLS and the excellent work they do in the community.
Good luck, thank you for your continued support and follow us on twitter and facebook to see how we get on!
We will keep you updated,
Coronavirus Angels Coordinating Team
