Together Again – news about our Community Partnerships

It’s been a busy few months for our community partnerships now that we can finally collaborate in-person on joint projects and invite people into KLS.

KLS is Garden House School’s ‘Charity of the Year’

This academic year we are delighted to be working with Garden House School who elected KLS as their Charity of the Year.  We have a busy schedule of events coming up, including a concert and an art project. We are looking forward to being together at in-person events.

KLS Christmas Cards for Sale

Christmas cards for sale

Over the past few weeks, children from Garden House and members from KLS have been creating a Christmas tree picture using hand print cut outs.  The hand prints signify our community being together again after a difficult and often lonely time. The finished piece will be decorating the Centre from 30th November and will also be featuring on our Christmas Card.

Do pop in to see it and to stock up on Christmas Cards, which will be on sale at the KLS reception from Monday 24th November – a pack of 10 cards is £5.

Gardening with FHS pupils

Last week we also welcomed Francis Holland pupils to KLS to help prepare the garden for winter. The Year 8 girls were brilliant gardeners. Under the direction of our wonderful gardening volunteer, Anne Margetson, they planted hardy winter plants in our window boxes and plenty of bulbs ready for spring.

We’d like to thank Will Galloway, Head of Community Outreach at Francis Holland School, for bringing the girls for the visit. The girls for their hard work; and Anne for all the time and care she puts into our little garden.

Guts and Glory Fitness fundraiser for our Elders

In other news, the local gym, Guts and Glory Fitness are working together on a fitness challenge to raise funds for our Elders Christmas Lunch and gym equipment for their exercise classes. You can get involved too (without the sweat!) and donate here

We are also looking forward to ‘Carols in the Square’ (Battersea Square that is) at 6.30pm on Tuesday 7th December (as well as that same evening at Holy Trinity Church in Sloane Square, organised by Battersea Choral Society); and we’ll be signing carols again on the afternoon of 10th December with some our supporters back in Battersea Square (2.30-7.00pm).

We are busy planning for Christmas and we will be working with all of our school partners to ensure that all our members will receive a gift this Christmas. We’ll be distributing these from mid-December, do get in touch with Annabel (email below) if you would like to help with this.

Double your donation at KLS’ Christmas Give (30Nov-07Dec)

Our annual Christmas fundraising appeal kicks off on Tuesday 30th November. Whatever you donate will be DOUBLED by our match funding partners, The Childhood Trust, Francis Holland School and the Topinambour Trust. We will share details of how you can take part on 30th November. Please save the date for now.
