Hello everybody,
Simon is having a well deserved day off, so the task of producing this week’s newsletter has been passed to me, and I would like to take this opportunity to thank you all who have volunteered over these last 10 weeks, whether it by leafleting, shopping, delivering prescriptions, running errands and going that extra mile to help those people who had contacted us. As we enter the next phase of the relaxations of lockdown and the potential self isolation with track and trace, our services will still be required. However we are aware that people’s circumstances change, and to assist everyone can you please fill out this short survey to confirm your upcoming availability (for those that completed this last week you do not need to do this twice).
We don’t just deliver shopping!
Together with Katherine Low Settlement and Urban Studio Sessions,an organisation which promotes sport and art across Wandsworth, we delivered 2 skateboards to families in Battersea. I think you can see from the smiles how happy the children were to receive them. Pain, resilience and dedication, have fun!
Prescription deliveries
We are still collecting and delivering prescriptions twice a day from Krystal Pharmacy in Battersea Park Road to people who are self isolating or too ill to go out. Here is the rota and if you no longer can pick up then please send us an email
Battersea Bake Off
Together with Team Cacao at Your Cakes we helped deliver over 750 portions of cake to well deserving essential workers. We delivered to Chelsea and Westminster Hospital,Royal Hospital Chelsea,St Thomas’s, Meadbank and George Potter Care Home, HMP Wandsworth and GP surgeries. We need over 1000 portions for next Monday, so please drop off your cakes this Sunday at St Mary’s Battersea from 9am – 4pm or at 57 Faraday House Battersea Power Station(please write the ingredients on the label).
Press releases and articles
Last week we sent out a press release which you can read here. The BBC are still interviewing some of our volunteers for their BBC Lockdown documentary, and we are currently producing a short 2 minute video for social media purposes. We also need help in writing articles to send to the press, for example your experiences of working for the Coronavirus Angels and how you have helped people/neighbours etc. The reason is that we need to ensure people know we are still here to help, especially as rules regarding lockdown, self isolation and shielding change.
Helen, one of our volunteers, is helping with our Press/Media/PR and if you want to write an article then please email us.
To keep up to date with developments please follow us on twitter and facebook
Finally here is a quote we had from a gentleman we helped:
“Sonia lived right across the road from me and we’d never met. Never,” James Hunt said laughing, “Now she’s not only doing my shopping, her mother made me a facemask and she’s taking me out to exercise. It’s incredible.”
Thank you again for all your help and support, and we could not do this without you.
Kind regards
David B.
