On 16th January KLS welcomed HRH The Duchess of Edinburgh to launch their 100th birthday celebrations, building on a legacy of royal visits: KLS was opened by The Queen Mother, as Duchess of York, in 1924. HRH made the most of a busy trip to KLS, joining an Elders chair dance class, an ESOL sewing group and a Love to Learn mentoring session. This event also marked the beginning of the KLS building appeal to raise £250,000 to make the centre more accessible, sustainable and welcoming.
Our building is 100 years old and we need urgent financial help to make it more accessible, sustainable and welcoming for the community. Our centenary is about celebrating our long-lasting service and fundraising £250,000 to build our house of the future. We are asking you to help us with a lifetime refurbishment that will make a difference for the children, families and older people of Battersea.
