“We believe in human to human solidarity through the sharing of skills and joint experience.”
We are really excited to have partnered up with Artists in Transit (AIT) – a collaborative arts project aimed at delivering creative workshops to communities and people in times of hardship. AIT are delivering art and activity packs directly to our young people’s doorsteps. Each pack contains arts and crafts resources as well as a creative challenge, concocted by a different artist each week. The challenge comes with an instructional video that can be viewed online and each task is tiered so that it is stimulating and accessible for kids of all ages. So far the kids have done printing, boat making, poetry and story writing. They have also been visited by the AIT ‘ARTS ICE CREAM VAN’. A fun way to alleviate lockdown blues in this sunny weather.
The project is lead by Molly Daniel and Angelique, alongside a team of artists and activists, in partnership with our Love to Learn education team. The AIT team has extensive experience facilitating workshops and activities for young people in Refugee Camps across Greece. So far, they have delivered packs to over 55 families. Engaging children directly at a time when so much of the work that we do is now online is incredibly important. It is wonderful to see how excited the children our about these activities when we meet in our online club each week!
