Following the government’s announcement on Saturday evening our Senior Management Team met this morning for an emergency planning session. After much discussion we have decided to suspend our face-to-face services again, effective from the end of this Wednesday (4th Nov). We will resume our ‘virtual’ support – online, over the phone, by post etc.
Our teams will be firming up their plans over the next few days, to provide the best possible support they can to our members (and each other) through this second Lockdown.
It’s a not a decision we’ve taken lightly. But we believe it’s for the best (for the time being). We will review this weekly.
There are a combination of factors we’ve included in reaching this decision: our members (their needs/wants/vulnerabilities), our staff and volunteers (their health, wellbeing and capacity), other local support groups (e.g. Battersea Coronavirus Angels is starting up again), and government guidance; and we’ve drawn upon our experience from the first Lockdown. Saying that we may do some one-to-one work with our most vulnerable members during Lockdown 2, but we are going to review these on a case by case basis (and as more guidance is released by the government) over the next few days.
This is going to be a difficult time ahead. But I’m confident that we can get through this together, if we support each other as one team, as one organisation, as one community.
Do get in touch with us if you’d like to talk about what support you might need, as well as our plans and services for the weeks ahead.
Stay well and stay safe.
