On 13th June we took part in a live crowdfunding event organised by The Funding Network (TFN).
We pitched for £10,000 to support our Love to Learn work. Through the generosity of everyone there achieve this target, which means we can now employ a new Partnerships Manager to build our nascent employability and wellbeing programme with young people. Watch the short film below to find out more.
It was TFN’s first ever hybrid event (some were in Octopus Management HQ’s with us and others taking part online). It was an honour to be there. Our great friend, Jenny Sheridan, put us forward. And then Aaron, our Director, spoke for 6 minutes (see film below) and answered questions for 6 minutes (they were strict). Two other charities followed us, using the same format. TFN members then pledged donations (after the 3 charities had been kicked out of the room). It’s a bit of a mix between Dragon’s Den and an auction, with audience members pledging donations. They raised an amazing £44,000 on the night.
The Funding Network is celebrating it’s 20th anniversary this year. We were lucky to meet two of TFN’s co-founders on the evening, who told us why they set it up. TFN is been a great way for regular folk to get involved with and support small charities. It’s a great night out too. They’ve done a fantastic job in raising millions over the years and have now taken the model into 21 other countries.
A very big thank you to the TFN team and Jenny Sheridan for supporting us; and everyone who made a donation on the night. Thank you.
